How to get to the Kent Coast

The Kent coast is very accessible from mainland England as well as from overseas (or in the Channel Tunnels case 'under-seas'). If you have booked one of our cottages in Kent then the following guide will assist you:

Road:

Kent has a useful motorway network linking all ports of entry from Europe with the M25, which provides access from London and all points North and West.

If you are looking to get to your holiday home on the North Kent coast, in towns such as Whitstable, Herne Bay, Ramsgate, Margate or Broadstairs then the M2 would be the most direct route. If you have booked a Kent cottage along the South East coast then the M20 would be the best road to take.

Sea:

Dover is the busiest port with frequent ferries from Calais and Dunkirk, but there is also a service between Ramsgate and Ostend.

Rail:

There are regular train services from London Charing Cross and London Victoria which can take between one and two hours depending on your coastal location.

Eurotunnel offers a speedy service by train from Calais to Folkestone through the Channel Tunnel. High speed Eurostar trains from Paris, Brussels and Lille stop in Ashford and Ebbsfleet.

Air:

Manston Airport, near Ramsgate, has daily flights to various locations or airports as far as Edinburgh and Belfast.
