This area incorporates the historic towns of Ashford, Cranbrook, Maidstone, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Tenterden and Tonbridge all offering excellent shopping facilities. Glorious countryside surrounds the towns and Country Life in June 2009 picked Goudhurst as one of the 5 best villages in Britain with its “incomparable panorama of the Weald’s blue hills.” Nearby is the magnificent Bedgebury Pinetum with its massive collection of conifers, Kent’s tallest tree and mountain bike trails. The Royal Military Canal, from Winchelsea to Hythe, separates Romney Marsh from the rest of Kent. This area of low lying farmland is noted for its sheep and famed for 14 fine medieval Churches in stunning locations.
